Be not decieved...
A poet said:
Do you not see how the two ever renewables [day and night]
Wear us out, while we jest in secret and in public?
Trust not this world and its pleasures,
For its homes are not real homes,
And work for your benefit before your death
And be not decieved by the abundance of friends and brothers.

Closer to the Nabi..
I found a poem written by a friend, who put into words the exact feeling, i guess, of when one leaves a noble land or noble company, of when one must part after a suhba or rihla or such. I could go on, but I'll let the words below do the talking.
Closer to the Kabaa, closer to the Nabi
But soon I'll be leaving this spiritual retreat
The sunrises, the sunsets and all that past me by,
Spending time with, sitting, facing, people with maqams so high,
The burst of barakah, as I stepped onto the land,
The time between then and now slipped away like quick sand,
Closer to the Companions, close to the awliyah,
But soon i shall be leaving after an inspirational year,
Teachers with knowledge, haals and hearts alive,
Sisters, so special, sincere, ready to strive
Knowledge given from the one who was given through and through,
Sacred opportunities, rare moments of immersion in the truth,
Closer to the heart it was, closer to my soul,
But soon it'll be memories that I willfully hold,
How does one say goodbye? How does move on ones way?
How does one part with treasure that is so rare?
How does one keep hold of the precious pearls that filled the heart?
How does one keep a grasp of those motivational sparks?
Closer to the message, closer to the revelation I was,
And I pray that I'll be able to continue learning, gaining and giving to the cause.
Closer to the Kabaa, closer to the Nabi
